A comical and engaging version of Creation

This story is entertaining and even thought provoking. The humorous details of the ramifications of being God are particularly intriguing: for example, God intentionally chooses not to remember where he put something that he is searching for and one angel looks old because God wanted to work out what old looks like.
This promising work makes the reader want to see more by this author, although the typos and other infelicities are distracting in such a short offering. The funny but sympathetic approach to Creation makes the reader appreciate the many odd and beautiful elements of our world.

One of the best short stories you'll EVER read!

Absolutely incredible! This is one of the best short stories I have ever read! It moves along so quickly, so seamlessly, you want it to go on forever, yet also can't wait to see how it ends. There just aren't enough religious fiction stories out there about this kind of subject matter, so when one shows up, you're praying (maybe literally) that the author did it justice. Well trust me on this, speaking as a former monk and a lifelong fan of spirituality, Christopher Ell has solidified his place in the Hall of Fame of spiritual fiction storytellers! I honestly feel like I've just read something so special, something the whole world will soon know about, a story that should have always existed but didn't until now. And trust me, I do not say that kind of thing lightly! I should add, by the way, I received a free copy of the story with a simple request for an honest review. "Sure," I told him, "but if I don't like it, I'm not going to review it." "Please do," he said, "just write an honest review, even if you don't like it." And what you've just read is my 100%-honest review. I mean it! Buy this story, and you'll see for yourself! I'm heading to social media next to tell the world about it. It really is THAT freakin' good!

Half Pratchett, half Kipling, this story is a sweet, immersive look at Heaven's domestic politics

God's Little Red Pen was like a modern-day Rudyard Kipling parable; I could very easily see it as an interlude in one of the Jungle Book volumes if Kipling had been born in the 1980s. Warm and quirky, faintly didactic, with a dry English humor--sorry, humour--and characters you just sort of want to hug, even the surprisingly sympathetic Lucifer, who here comes across as the rebellious, smart-mouthed teenage older brother that probably smokes pot when he thinks God isn't looking.
I had to back off a star because there were several glaring grammar/spelling errors that really shouldn't have seen the light of day (ironic, considering the red pen sitting front and center), and a few odd rhyming turns of phrase that might have knocked a few people I know out of immersion ("rumbling grumble bumbling"). Otherwise, this is an enjoyably contemporary read for those of us raised on the stately, friendly tales of colonial Britain.
