In turn, they are immensely helped by the two men who enter their lives as a result of this disease that darkens memories and shortens life. Tessa had been a strong-willed woman who defied her parents' restrictions fruitlessly or almost fruitlessly, as evidenced by the small mound in the nearby cemetary. That loss led to the love of Sunny's father. Because of the underlying love of her parents, and the strong bond betweenTessa and the black woman who helped Tessa defy racial stereotypes throughout her life in a Jim Crow South, Sunny has no second thoughts in leaving behind the life she had built to return home to help the women who reared her; her sacrifice was rewarded by her meeting the man who was intended to be part of her forever life. This is a beautifully written story; the author's love comes through for what had to be a difficult story for her to write because of the disease that affected her family and the losses she sustained. Those losses have made thousands richer because they brought her to begin her writing career.

I have wanted to write this book for many years. My momma had Alzheimer's. She was a very strong, Southern, Christian woman who fought this disease daily. She asked her family to find humor in things she might do or say that would be out of her character. We as a family tried to honor her wishes, but it was very hard. This book is in memory of Momma, although it is fiction. I wanted to keep a touch of humor in each page, yet not take away from the daily struggle the one that has Alzheimer's, as well as their caregivers have to endure.

This book has been written in memory of my momma, Mary Frances Fowler. She fought the battle of Alzheimer's with her head held high, and keeping her Christian beliefs strong. She asked her family from the beginning to find humor in the things she would say or do that wasn't in her character. We obeyed her wishes, but it was very hard to find humor in knowing Momma was slowly drifting away from us. When she forgot things, she would tell us they weren't worth remembering, and she would just remember them another day. She was a gentle person who taught her family how to be happy, and love others, even in her worse days of the disease.

Grab a comfy chair, your favorite drink, open the book and enjoy, i did!

Lately I have been reading a lot of fast paced supernatural thrillers, When I opened this book and began reading, I found something delightfully different. I was astounded and happy to settle back and relax with a heart touching story. This is a story of life, love and yes, heartache.When Sunny is called home to help with her mother by Miss Beulah, a friend first, and a housekeeper second. Sunny's mom, Tessa has Alzheimer's. The author has dealt with the subject of this terrible disease with grave, love, warmth and a touching story that also contains a few skeletons of the past and a bridge that connects with the future. Well done book by an author I am definitely going to be reading more of.

A Touching Story!

I really enjoyed reading this book! It has a lot of humor mixed in with sadness as the young woman deals with her mother's dementia. However, with the help of a longtime family friend, a caring physician and a mysterious visitor, she learns to cope, and to follow the path the Lord has laid out for her. The author has a gift for storytelling and building characters. I felt like they could be people living next door to me and I didn't want the book to end!
