Patience and Warren get to know each other.

This was a sweet story about Patience and her perseverance which begins just after finding out she and her husband are expecting their first child. It is quite inspirational to read about a young woman who has to go through what she does who is still calling on God for guidance. I like the development of the story, but found it a bit implausible that one brother would be literate while the other was not; particularly the younger brother. In any case, I could suspend judgment long enough to enjoy the playing out of the plot. If you want a quick, sweet, read, then Protecting Patience is for you. It's really good to read about upstanding people in this day and age.
The storyline of mail order brides intrigues me a lot. I find it quite interesting to immerse myself in the lives of those who could and did contemplate this state. Many of these marriages worked too. Of course, this romance seems headed in a different direction from the very beginning. It wasn't unheard of for the brother to wed his brother's widow in order to take care of her, and any offspring. This story made me think of the story of Ruth and Naomi in the Bible.

I would have liked to have read more about her finding love the ...

I received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for giving an honest review of the book. It is a heartfelt story about Patience who finds that she and her husband Clayton are expecting a baby. Soon after learning the news of the impending birth, Clayton dies in an accident. Her brother-in-law, Warren, promises Clayton to take care and protect Patience. His idea of protecting Patience is to make her a mail-order bride. The story deals with her grieving and having to move on with her life. I would have liked to have read more about her finding love the second time around and her new life. I did feel that it left you hanging about their future and I hope that there will be another book on that or maybe Patience will show up in other books in the series. It is a quick, easy, and delightful read. I would recommend the book.

LOVE Protecting Patience!

Patience is a wonderful, heart feeling story about a young woman who faces the loss of her husband shortly after discovering she is to have his child. Even with the sadness of her loss, the pain she went through in dealing with all the mixed emotions left my heart filled with love. I would have enjoyed reading more about her falling in love a second time; but, as this book stands, I was left feeling good about how the young women of the past dealt with their pain and joy. For young people to leave everything they ever knew, including family and friends, was difficult enough; but, with life issues, I can only imagine how much having someone special to share your trials and tribulations must have felt. This is a book I highly recommend if you need an uplifting and enjoyable read. I DEFINITELY look forward to future stories by Jill Maguire!!!
