Lots of breeds, well drawn plus bonus pages

This review is for the Doodle Dogs: Adult Coloring Books Featuring Over 30 Stress Relieving Dogs Designs.
This dog coloring book is way fun. In the intro to the book, there is a list of what dogs are featured in the book and their breeds. I think the first section of the book features artwork from the same artist. They are absolutely beautiful and really lend themselves to coloring. The lines are strong and there are no blurry details. These designs are really made for adults as its VERY intricate and intensive. About 2/3rds through the book, there is a page that says “Bonus 10 designs” The coloring pages there forth must be from different artists as they all have totally unique styles to the front of the book. They are fun and a different change if you want to color something new. Again, they are very detailed and intense like the beginning of the book, so this is definitely a book for the adult!
The book comes in a glossy soft cover binding. The pages are thick paper but not too thick that it adds bulk. Just nice enough that markers would not bleed through. I find it easier to photocopy the pages or use an exact-o blade to cut the pages out before coloring. I can also flatten the book if I want to color in it, it’s just more relaxing for me to remove the pages. The pages are also printed 1 design per page so you aren’t compromising back and front when you color. The back of the book also has a nice letter that gives a web address to more free coloring designs to print online if you buy these books. Overall, 5/5 stars for this fun coloring book!!

Doodle Owl...Doodle Bear.....not sure what to make of this one.

I ordered this as I saw something about it on one of the Coloring groups I am in. I really am disappointed in it. The cover says Doodle Dogs-the image on the cover is the first page and actually looks like an Owl. Many of the "dogs" in the book look more like wolves. There are even 2 that look like Bears. Most of the "dog" images appear to be stock clipart from children's coloriing books.There is no information on or in the book that cites the Author/Artist name. Many of the pages are off center-running off the page and some are upside down on the page. There is one page that is printed twice. Paper is medium weight and all designs are printed single-sided.
His artwork has 4 styles in it which is unusual for an artist. Typically an artist can identified by their work, but this one seems to be more than one person doing the art. At the end of the book it says "Thank you and to be sure and go to Amazon and give me a 5 Star review." Sorry, but this coloring book left me puzzled. Not everyone's taste is the same and that is what makes the world go 'round. I cannot give this 5 stars due to what I have observed inside. I was quite excited to receive my book yesterday...but felt disappointed when I did.

Large Variety of Dog Designs with 10 Bonus Pictures

Most of them are based on simple line drawings but are filled in (both inside of the dog and in the background) with lighter design elements which are cute and fun. The bonus pages seem to be sketches of dogs (rather than line drawings) and have had other design items added around them.
While the designs are really cute and should be fun to color for the most part, most of the designs simply stop near the edge without a frame which leaves the colorist with open-ended and unfinished elements to their coloring. This is a particular nit of mine as I hate to be left without a definite edge or finished element as it gives a very uneven and unfinished look to my work.
The pages are printed on thin white paper which is not perforated. The designs are printed on one side of the page with the back left blank. There is room between the designs and the glue binding so you can remove the pages with a pen knife or by heating the edge (though that is something I have yet to attempt.)
My gel pens and markers all leaked through this paper. Not a problem, though, as I can put a piece of chipboard or a couple of heavy weight pieces of paper under the page I am working on to keep the ink from leaking through. Coloring pencils work well with this book.
