An interesting premise, but it needs some more development.

Shylight is a story about a Christmas Celebration in Heaven. The story intrigued me by the description, but left me disappointed after reading it. A lot of the story is detailed descriptions of what the author things heaven will be like, which were well done, and would have fit in a longer book, however in a short story that is only 21 pages the long descriptions pull you out of the story. The end of the story was the best part in my mind, that is what the whole thing should have been about.

Going home to a place I've never been.

I just finished reading this short story by Tim Worsham, written in memory of his neice, Charlotte "Charlie-girl" McManion, who passed away as a newborn baby, but who touched so many. An engaging read, a glimpse of what heaven might be like. I don't normally like most fantasy fiction, other than Tolkien's Lord of the Ring's trilogy--the world-building and unfamiliar terminology gets in the way, but , in this case, that was balanced and overcome by the familiar characters and their vivid experiences in the Bright Land, heaven.
I never met Charlie during her brief life, though I did follow the family's blog posts and saw pictures of her during her illness. I knew Charlie's great grandfather, Don, so it was especially fun to see him as a character in this story, and hear his voice and see his face in my head as I read
Thank you for writing and sharing this vision, Tim. I hope you will write more in this setting. I look forward to meeting Charlie-girl someday in The Bright Land.
