Absolute marvelous

The book is absolutely fantastic. Congratulations to the author. He bestows the reader some wonderful hours. British humour at its best combined with a subtle and lovely view of life. Once started reading you cannot put it down. Extremely well written.
I am looking forward to his next book.

Witty, dark, engaging, and clever.

I read this in an evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cleverly written, with a slightly sardonic wit and engaging style, Halliwell creates a protagonist who, for all his faults, one can't help but relate to and enjoy. The supernatural aspect is subtle and light, until we are drawn in by the narrative, which is nice, as it repels any cliches. Not sure what the previous negative reviewer's problem was, perhaps they were looking for an obvious Hollywood plot. but it was clearly the whole point of the style to be subtle and integrate the supernatural into the main focus of the text: the protagonist's relationship and future. Definitely worth a read, anyway!

An interesting look at new fatherhood

I'm actually quite impressed by this short story. It does have a bit of a ghost story to it, which is why I purchased it. However I didn't expect it to be as sentimental in the end as it was. It was definitely worth the read.
